A week of activities celebrating Japanese culture at a small, village school in Yorkshire, offering students the chance to experience a culture completely unknown to them. Activities included a taiko drumming workshop and Japanese dance, as well as arts and crafts such as koi nobori making and exploring the works of Hokusai. The children also tried Japanese food and took part in origami.
The initial event was postponed from 2020 due to Covid-19 restrictions, but went ahead with great success in Spring 2021. The children thoroughly enjoyed the week and have shown interest in continuing some of the new hobbies experienced learnt.

Japanese Calligraphy Workshop
A calligraphy workshop for students to learn more about writing Japanese characters, led by a specialist.

Foyle Obon Festival 2022
The annual Foyle Obon Festival welcomed the Hannari Japanese Dance group and Japanese storyteller, Masako Carey to the lineup, engaging audience members of all ages.
