British-Japanese All-Party Parliamentary Group

Mission

To develop and improve links between the British and Japanese Parliaments and to encourage a deeper understanding of their respective cultures.

It also has an important role to play in promoting trade and economic dialogue between the two countries.

History and Activities

The British-Japanese All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) was established in the early 1980s.

The Group enjoys active cross-party participation from MPs, Peers, Ministers and Diplomats.

Each year the APPG seeks to deliver a programme of activities that underpins its mission. Every two years the group aims to run a Mission to Japan.

It is currently one of the largest, official cross-party 'Country Groups' in the Parliament of the United Kingdom.
