Coventry Japanese Peace Garden

Applicant: Between the Stones
Award: £1000
Field: Culture
Project:
The Japanese Peace Garden was the outcome of the final phase of a two-year Cities of Peace Project in Coventry involving pupils from five primary schools. Initially planned for pupils to design miniature Japanese Peace Gardens, it became possible to extend the project to involve the design and installation of a public karesansui garden in Coventry city centre.
The project has had a very wide impact and included the wider school communities from all five partner schools who have been able to collaborate with many partners, both locally and nationally.
The garden has attracted much interest and has been featured on BBC Coventry and Warwickshire radio, in the local press, social media and national press. It has been featured as part of the Japan UK Season of Culture programme.
Find out more about the project on the Between the Stones website.
