On 25 May 2019 Obon on the Foyle delivered the fourth edition of their showcase family O-Bon festival. Held in Derry in Northern Ireland, the festival welcomes everyone from all communities.
Alongside lantern processions, Japanese arts and crafts, and food demonstrations, this year San Jose Taiko was invited to share some bon odori and taiko with visitors, helping to bring children and adults together in music.
The aim of the Foyle O-Bon Festival is to share the love of Japanese cultural arts and in doing so, brings together people from Northern Ireland's diverse society in a spirit of joy and shared experiences, as well as continuing to bridge the gap between Northern Ireland and Japan.
