Devon Guild of Craftsmen is an educational charity and membership organisation for professional craftspeople from the south west of England. Their aims are to educate the public about contemporary crafts, create opportunities for making and support the artistic development of craftspeople.
In previous years, exhibitions of the work of Japanese potters and the associated activities were well received, and so for the 2016 'Made in Japan' exhibition and launch event, music and bunraku puppetry performances were added to the programme. These additions would help to bring together craft and music, providing an added interest for the audience and therefore extending their experience of Japanese culture beyond ceramics.
