In Hertfordshire, Haberdashers’ Aske’s School for Girls hold a Japanese day for the students every other year. In 2011, around 300 students were given the chance to make sushi with Chef Kurokawa, to try craft activities such as origami and calligraphy, Japanese story telling, taiko drumming and trying on kimono.
A special lunch was prepared for all of the students, and in the afternoon they watched a special performance by A Thousand Cranes.

Japanese Calligraphy Workshop
A calligraphy workshop for students to learn more about writing Japanese characters, led by a specialist.

Minoru Nomata: Hands-on Learning Activities at the De La Warr Pavilion

Foyle Obon Festival 2022
The annual Foyle Obon Festival welcomed the Hannari Japanese Dance group and Japanese storyteller, Masako Carey to the lineup, engaging audience members of all ages.
