To celebrate the blossoming of the cherry trees at Alnwick Garden in Northumberland, a series of workshops were held over the course of a month with the aim of showcasing various aspects of Japanese culture to the visiting public and the local community, including school children and community groups.
The workshops, all of which were participatory, included orgami, ikebana, manga drawing, silk painting, lantern making and bonsai demonstrations and were incredibly well received, with around 1285 people taking part.

Japanese Calligraphy Workshop
A calligraphy workshop for students to learn more about writing Japanese characters, led by a specialist.

Foyle Obon Festival 2022
The annual Foyle Obon Festival welcomed the Hannari Japanese Dance group and Japanese storyteller, Masako Carey to the lineup, engaging audience members of all ages.
